Per diem calculator
How the calculation works
Foreign trips are counted in 12-hour blocks, and every started block counts as half a day: a trip of 30 hours is 1.5 days, one of 72 hours and one minute is 3.5. Trips inside Romania only count complete 12-hour blocks, rounded to whole days.
Each destination has a base daily allowance in the currency the table sets (EUR, USD or RON). The ceiling multiplier scales it; 2.5× is the usual tax-free limit.
The rates are the Romanian government's reference table for business trips abroad (HG 582/2015), the same one FocalHQ uses when it calculates per diem on a trip. If your company applies its own policy, use your rates instead.
What is per diem?
A fixed daily amount a company pays an employee travelling for work, to cover meals and small expenses, instead of reimbursing each receipt.
Why does a trip of 25 hours count as 1.5 days?
For trips abroad, every started 12-hour block counts as half a day. 25 hours is three started blocks, so 1.5 days.
Which countries are covered?
Every destination in the reference table, around 165 countries, plus Romania for domestic trips.
Is my data saved?
No. The calculator runs in your browser; nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
